Internship Overview
The goal of this project is to devise an algorithm to unify the 3D data streamed from several sensors, placing their respective 3D meshes in a common reference frame and producing a single 3D mesh, or a similar representation fusing all data. This project can be decomposed into diverse and challenging tasks: ● Design a strategy to relate the information from individual sensors into a common frame ● Design and implement an algorithm to merge the data from the different 3D sensors into a single 3D representation, which can be a 3D mesh or a volumetric model ● Identify restrictions about the placement of the cameras, depending on the algorithm (e.g., they need to have a percentage of overlap) ● Deploy and test the algorithm in a real scenario with multiple 3D cameras ● Implement a real-time rendering system to display the resulting 3D mesh
Requirements
- Studying towards a degree in Mathematics or Computer Science
- Knowledge of computer processing and image processing
- Python and/or C++
